Basic Function
Assists in the planning, development and implementation of Susan G. Komen related special events, with project management responsibility for specific initiatives. Ensures the integration of event objectives with the organization’s strategic plan. Serves as the central point of contact for an event or series of events (internal or external). Identifies and maximizes revenue, communications and mission-related opportunities for each event and/or speaking opportunity.

Primary Responsibilities
Lead strategy development, in collaboration with marketing team, for recruitment and revenue growth. Works with team to implement, optimize and evaluate results for budget projections and future strategies.

Serves as the project manager of Komen sponsored events, specifically the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Series. Provides expert advice/guidance for revenue generation, event content, promotion, logistics, overall theme/direction, creative/concept services, event activities and entertainment that fits the event objectives and is appropriate for the audience as well as the brand/reputation of the organization.

Leads the project team for specific initiatives in assembling the talent and resources needed. Meets or exceeds deadlines and project objectives. Provides regular project updates to Komen leadership and measures event outcomes vs. objectives, providing evaluation reports and recommendations in a timely manner.

Measures/evaluates event outcomes to assess the level of objectives achieved. May provide recommendations to Komen leadership for continuation, modification or elimination of a special event(s) or programs.

Assists in the management and oversight of external firms, agencies or contractors; monitors day-to-day activities of the firms, agencies or individuals as they relate to the Komen and its Affiliates and partners. Establishes and oversees budgets and identifies quarterly priorities. Ensures budget and timeline adherence for projects and deliverables.

Partners with internal team members, other departments, and outside marketing, logistics, activation, meeting planning and production agencies to maximize the organization’s involvement in the 3 Day Series and other Komen-sponsored events. Works closely with the Communications team to leverage public relations and media opportunities surrounding these events and identifies opportunities to advance the Komen vision and brand.

Oversees the coordination of communication and activation with Komen Affiliates for the 3-Day including but not limited to collaboration opportunities, advance work and providing representatives with appropriate background and logistical information for the event/engagement.
Represents Komen on-site at 3 Day events. Serves as the Komen point of contact during events and can include speaking and media opportunities during the event. Builds collaboration and relationships with participants and attendees on event.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Experience Required
The minimum requirements established for this job include a BS or BA in public relations, marketing, communications or related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in community engagement, relationship/partner cultivation, meeting planning, event execution, production and/or promotion required. A minimum of 5-10 years direct experience required, including special event management and promotion. Ability to support an overall strategic business plan, and effectively managing the supporting budget(s). Ability to effectively manage people by delegating work, providing coaching/mentoring, and guiding others to achieve desired results. Proven ability to develop vendor, partners and VIP relationships in order to enhance awareness and image of the organization and its mission. Excellent written and verbal skills are essential.

Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience working with high-profile personalities, diverse audiences, corporate partners and events agencies in a corporate marketing, agency or non-profit setting. Prior work experience with a not-for-profit or volunteer environment is valuable.

Specialized Knowledge Requirements
Public education content; event planning, budgeting and execution for events ranging from intimate VIP gatherings of 50 or less to large scale functions (1,000+), large scale fundraising events.
